How to become a CMA?

The journey of becoming a Cost and Management Accountant (CMA) comprises of the three key steps. These 3 steps are the 3 levels of the Cost and Management Accountant (CMA) course. These are -

Step 1 - CMA Foundation

Eligibility 

Students can register for this course after passing 10th or equivalent examination from a recognized Board. To appear for CMA Foundation, candidates must have passed the 12th examination.

 ●  Paper 1: Fundamentals of Economics and Management 

          Section A:  Fundamentals of Economics (50 marks)

          Section B: Fundamentals of Management (50 marks) 

 ●  Paper 2: Fundamentals of Accounting

          Section A: Fundamentals of Financial Accounting (80 marks)

          Section B: Fundamentals of Cost Accounting (20 marks)

 ●  Paper 3: Fundamentals of Laws and Ethics

          Section A: Fundamentals of Commercial Laws (70 marks)

          Section B: Fundamentals of Ethics (30 marks)

 ●  Paper 4: Fundamentals of Business Mathematics and Statistics

          Section A: Fundamentals of Business Mathematics (40 marks)

          Section B: Fundamentals of Business Statistics (60 marks)

Passing criteria for CMA Foundation 

A student is declared to pass CMA foundation exam of he/ she has secures minimum of 40% marks in each paper and aggregate of 50% of total marks.

Step 2 - CMA Intermediate

Eligibility 

For appearing in CMA Intermediate exams, students must have passed 12th class and any of the CMA Foundation/ CS Foundation/ CA Foundation or should have passed Graduation in any discipline other than Fine Arts.

Passing criteria for CMA Intermediate level 

A student is declared to have passed a group of the CMA Intermediate exam, if he/she secures a minimum of 40% marks in each paper of the group and aggregate of 50% of total marks of non exempted papers of that group.

Step 3 - CMA Final

Eligibility 

Students can apply for this course after passing the CMA Intermediate course.

Passing criteria for CMA Final level 

A student is declared to have passed a group of the CMA Final exam, if he/she secures a minimum of 40% marks in each paper of the group and aggregate of 50% of total marks of non-exempted papers of that group.
